Alan Taylor An Appointment in Arezzo - Imprint 26/10/2018 - 26/10/2018 Dick Institute
Appointment in Arezzo, published to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Muriel's birth in 2018, is an intimate, fond and funny memoir of one of the greatest novelists of the last century.

This colourful, personal, anecdotal, indiscrete and admiring memoir charts the course of Muriel Spark's life revealing her as she really was. Once, she commented sitting over a glass of Chianti at the kitchen table, that she was upset that the academic whom she had appointed her official biographer did not appear to think that she had ever cracked a joke in her life. Alan Taylor here sets the record straight about this and many other things.

Alan Taylor is a journalist, author and founding editor of the Scottish Review of Books. With sources ranging from notebooks kept from his very first encounter with Muriel and the hundreds of letters they exchanged over the years, this is an invaluable portrait of one of Edinburgh's premiere novelists.

Sleeping Beauty 24/11/2018 - 29/12/2018 Palace Theatre
With last year’s Dick Whittington being described as having “all the ingredients for a great Christmas night out” (Kilmarnock Standard) The Palace Theatre are planning another spectacular panto with the magical tale of Sleeping Beauty.

The show will star River City’s LEAH MACRAE as Fairy Flutterby, and back by popular demand are FRASER BOYLE as Nurse Senga and GARY MORRISON as Hilarious Hector.

As a result of a curse from the evil Carabosse, Princess Beauty pricks her finger on a spinning wheel and falls in to an enchanted sleep. Will Nurse Senga, Hector and the dashing Prince Lorenzo be able to save her before the hundred years are up and the Princess’ fate is sealed?

Once again the show will have all the ingredients for a magical family panto with spectacular sets and costumes, fabulous songs and dances and bags of slapstick fun!

Concession tickets are available to those under 16, students, in receipt of the state pension, or registered disabled. Other concessions maybe available (such as family tickets) but must be purchased through the Box Office directly either in person or over the phone.

LUNA 30/11/2018 - 30/11/2018 Grand Hall
An enchanting theatre experience about friendship, the moon and being brave in the dark for 2 – 5 year olds and their families.

Luna is bored up in the sky by herself with nobody to play with. Although she is surrounded by stars, they never quite understand her - it’s certainly lonely being the only moon.

One night, as she’s racing among the stars, she spots a young boy hiding from shadows which move like monsters on his bedroom walls. Luna decides to slide down from the sky to make friends with the boy. Together they go on an adventure of LIGHT and DARK to help him overcome his fear of the night-time.
